Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files a site saves in your browser to remember information between visits. Some sites, including Parenk, also use similar, non-cookie technologies, such as the browser's local storage, for equivalent purposes: this page covers them together, since what matters to you is what's stored and why, not the technical name of the mechanism.

These cookies are essential for the site to work and don't require your consent.

• NEXT_LOCALE: remembers the language you chose (Italian or English), so we don't ask you to pick it again on every visit. It's set automatically and lasts about a year.
• parenk_consent: remembers the choice you made (or didn't make) about analytics cookies below, so we don't ask you again on every visit. Storing this choice doesn't itself require consent. It lasts up to a year, or until you change your choice.

Besides cookies, we store some technical information in your browser's local storage: data that stays on your device and isn't automatically sent with every request, unlike cookies.

• parenk:authToken: keeps you signed into your account after logging in, so you don't have to log in on every page
• parenk:guestToken: a temporary identifier assigned to anyone joining a shared story without an account, so you can be recognized within that session

This information stays on your device, isn't shared with third parties, and is removed when you log out or clear your browser's browsing data.

Parenk is built to use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to understand, in aggregate and anonymous form, how the site is used: which stories are read, where readers drop off, which features are used most. The events we measure never include your name, email, or the text you write: only technical identifiers such as an experience's slug or a story's id.

As of today, this tool isn't active yet: no analytics cookies are set. When we do activate it, nothing loads until you've actually made a choice - on your first visit after that, a small banner asks for your consent, and Google Tag Manager only loads if you accept it. You can change your mind at any time from the small "Privacy" link at the bottom of the page, which reopens the same choice.

Once analytics is active and you've consented to it (see above), analytics cookies will be set by Google, as the provider of Google Analytics. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

The small "Privacy" link at the bottom of the page lets you review or change your analytics choice at any time. You can also manage or delete cookies from your browser settings. Note that blocking the NEXT_LOCALE or parenk_consent cookies won't stop you from using the site, but you may need to pick your language, or make your privacy choice, again on every visit. Instructions for managing cookies vary by browser and are usually available under the "Privacy" or "Cookies" section of its settings.

We'll update this page if the list of cookies or similar technologies we use changes, in particular when we activate the analytics tools described above. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
